The climate is best described as Mediterranean, pleasant during most of the year. Only the north-east monsoon around the year’s end brings a period of rainy, sometimes misty and cold weather. The summer months can be hot and is characterized by the strong wind which blows from the south-west. During this dry period the famous Uva flavour tea is produced, with very low yields.
The Uva Ben Head bungalow has four well equipped double bedrooms with attached bathrooms. There are spacious sitting and dining rooms. The modern kitchen provides local as well as western meals.
The immediate surroundings are teeming with birds of over 100 species; the visitor can hear and see the beautiful Ceylon jungle fowl, the country’s national bird which hides in the cover of the tea bushes. The fine front lawn invites for leisurely rest or games with children. Footpaths spread in all directions through the shaded tea fields for short and long walks.
